Holiday home vacation on the Balearics
atraveo offers you a great selection of more than 4,000 holiday apartments and houses for the Balearics. The famous Spanish island group is both in the main and off season one of the most popular travel destinations across Europe. The island group comprises of Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Here next to the classic holiday houses you can also find many idyllic and often luxuriously furnished fincas with lots of amenities such as a swimming pool or alternatively you may want to opt for a cheap holiday apartment in close proximity to the beach. The options that are offered to you on the Balearic Islands are diverse: Everything from a cosy relaxed family holiday at the beach to an active vacation with a bit of culture to a party marathon for revellers is possible.
Majorca – Always a highlight
Majorca is the largest Balearic island where atraveo can by far offer you the largest number of holiday apartments and houses. Majorca does not only captivate with its lovely beaches but particularly also with its lovely island landscape, many interesting smaller and larger towns and villages along the coast and in the heartland as well as with its varied recreational and entertainment offer. This includes a pulsating nightlife with its reputation in the south at Platja de Palma being legendary. But there is also a more peaceful side to the island. Particularly large parts of the north and west are virtually secluded and peaceful and invite you next to a classic beach vacation to go on hiking tours in the mountains or cycling trips up to Cap Formentor. The most popular places for a holiday home vacation on Majorca are Pollenca, Sa Rapita, Cala Ratjada, Cala d'Or, Porto Cristo and Campos.
Menorca – Just beautiful
Menorca is regarded as the small sister of Majorca and is about 35 kilometres away in north easterly direction. Next to beautiful wide sandy beaches and dark blue sea around the island Menorca has an impressive and mainly untouched natural landscape that is waiting to be explored. Here the nightlife is not that colourful and outlandish like on Majorca und Ibiza. Instead here one can find everything what one needs to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life. Many large and smaller towns such as the main town Maó invite you to take a stroll and linger.
Ibiza – Idyllic and exciting
Ibiza is on the western side of the Balearics and about 100 kilometres away from Majorca. Scenically Ibiza captivates with its rocky and partly rugged coastline with a number of larger and smaller bays. In the so called calas you will find nice protected beaches and picturesque villages and towns that line the rocky cliffs with whitewashed houses. Away from this idyllic setting Ibiza also offers around Eivissa and San Antonio probably the most spectacular nightlife in the entire Mediterranean Sea. Some of the most famous and trendy discos are on this island including the largest nightclub in the world.
Formentera – Small and heavenly
Formentera is by far the smallest and least known island of the Balearics and can still be regarded as a real insider tip. It is situated southwest of Ibiza and can only be reached by ferry. Formentera captivates first with its peace and seclusion. "Bye everyday life" is exactly the right way to describe a holiday here. This small island that only stretches out 25 kilometres very much impresses with its cliffs, extensive dune landscape and two large lagoon seas. A dream are the heavenly beaches on the western side of the island that with their turquoise blue water very much resemble the Caribbean. You will find a good selection of holiday homes on Formentera in Es Pujols and Mar y Land.
With the plane to a holiday house on the Balearic Islands
The easiest way to get to the Balearics is by plane. Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza all have an international airport with regular flights. Travellers to Formentera also fly to Ibiza and then take the ferry from Eivissa to Formentera. On most of the islands it is recommended to rent a car not only in order to reach your holiday home without much stress but also to go on longer day trips. Tip: It is advised to book a car rental in advance as this is usually much cheaper than doing it on arrival. Alternatively there is quite a good public transport system on all islands. On Formentera it suffices to rent bicycles to explore the island.
